Mailing Lists

From Taclug

The mailing lists are where most of the activity happens when we aren't at a Meeting. If your interested in TACLUG, we encourage you to sign up and participate.

TACLUG General (http://www.taclug.org/mailman/listinfo/taclug-general)

This list is for general discussions and posts about Linux and TACLUG. Any OSS topic on this is fair game except job postings. We welcome job postings, but they need to be approved by the list moderator before they are posted to the list.

This list is unmoderated, although new users start out as moderated for the first week. They should email the list moderator if they need to post sooner. Mailing list archives are now availible online. The volume on this list is never more than a couple of messages a day.

TACLUG Announce (http://www.taclug.org/mailman/listinfo/taclug-announce)

Join this list to receive TACLUG announcements. This is the best way to be notified of upcoming meetings, group activities and other local area TACLUG events. This list is moderated. Typically, you'll only see one or two emails a month on this list.

TACLUG Business (http://www.taclug.org/mailman/listinfo/taclug-business)

This is a mailing list intended to facilitate some of the more political or business discussions about TACLUG itself. At one point, these discussions were generating a huge amount of traffic volume, and it was decided to keep these topics in a seperate.

TACLUG Board (http://www.taclug.org/mailman/listinfo/taclug-board)

This list is private, for the use of TACLUG Board members only. Generally, discussions on this list are TACLUG business related, and shouldn't be indexed.

Rules

The purpose of the TACLUG mailing lists is to encourage free and open discussions about a variety of Linux and computer-related topics. The lists are not moderated in any way. In order to keep things clean and fun, we ask that you abide by some basic rules of conduct:

  • Abusive language will not be tolerated. Play fair and use common sense.
  • Illegal activities of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • Commercial activities, such as selling or advertising should be strictly computer-related. No SPAM. When in doubt, e-mail a Board member or the listmaster directly.

Any violation of these guidelines may result in your removal from the lists by the listmaster. The user will be notified why mailing list privileges have been suspended by the listmaster. The TACLUG Board will review that decision at the following Board meeting if necessary.

Note: The lists do prevent non-subscribers from posting. If you get a "Bounce - Non-Member submission", it means you are not subscribed at the address you are sending from. Please subscribe to the list in order to post to it.

All are welcome, but we do request that if you join our mailing list, that you attend one of our meetings at some point if possible, we want to meet you.

Thank you!
