Welcome, This is the home of the Tacoma Linux User Group or TACLUG, a non-profit group of Linux enthusiasts who meet each month to share information about this great operating system. *BSD, Unix, Mac and other computer enthusiasts are welcome too.

Membership is open to the public so everyone should feel welcome to check out a meeting and/or the mailing lists.

If you'd like to support TACLUG by wearing our emblem, please visit our CafePress store (http://www.cafepress.com/taclug)!

Next Meeting

The next Taclug meeting is scheduled for Saturday November 18th, 2006 at the Wheelock Library.

About this Wiki

Current Purpose

Currently, in contradiction to the Purpose specified below, this Wiki is the complete web presence of TACLUG on the Web.

You can see our old website by clicking here (http://www.taclug.org/indexold).

Future Purpose

The TACLUG Wiki mainly aims to be a repository of instructions and operative knowledge. Unlike sites like Wikipedia, it does not aim to be an authoritative reference on the What and Why of everything. Reference material on this wiki is not usually exhaustive, does not necessarily attempt to be neutral, and will likely contain opinions and sometimes unsubstantiated claims; in general, links to external resources should be included where appropriate. The TACLUG wiki focuses on the How. It collects Notes on how to set up, configure and use things, tips on how to get more out of them, and the like. It is also a social platform for participants; some pages may be humourous or even silly, and we like them that way.

Wiki's in General

A Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki) is a special software system developed to be run on a Web Server that allows anyone (including you) to modify just about any page. It's perfect for a collaborative environment for developing documentation. Read our Help Page or the Wiki Tutorial if you haven't used wikis before. If you have any further questions, try the ContactList

Charles Mauch added a RSS Aggretator (http://www.taclug.org/planet/) to the site. It's updated every 6 hours. If you'd like your journal/weblog added, let him know.
