We dropped the birding team off for a 4 day camp on, appropriately, Avian Island. Surveying Adelie Penguins, South Polar Skuas, Giant Petrels, Blue Eyed Shags and Kelp Gulls, they had their hands full...of clicker counters that is. Additionally, they were able to collect diet samples from Adelies in the form of regurgitation. The sample analysis revealed the penguins are eating a combination of krill and fish. This photo is of Adelie colonies, a South Polar Skua adult, two South Polar Skua chicks and a Giant Petrel chick.
