Not cheap but one of my favorites - he wrote an excellent Java text also. Dave R.

Not only the best C book I have ever read, but probably the best computer-related book I've ever read. The explanations are clear, consise, and yet detailed enough for a complete understanding of the material. The figures are simple and helpful, and there are a lot of short pieces of example code to help out. The end of each chapter features a "FAQ" section where the author answers quite a few common questions you might have as you read through the chapter. It's the one book that has never let me down...I have always been able to find the answer I was looking for. I wish the author would write a book about every field of computer science. Jeremy B.

I've seen quite a few books on C and this, is by far, the best of them all. King explains the many aspects of C with a wonderful and dynamic clarity that keeps the reader interested. In the world of computer science, writing books that keep the reader interested is no easy task, but King pulls it off rather eloquently. Gabriel N.
